Sweets and Monkeys

I just made this birthday card with the High Hopes stamp - Cherry Chip Chimp.  This image is so cute.  He is drawn by Dustin Pike.  I have used this stamp quite a few times.  Here is another time I've used it.  There were more times but I don't have pictures of those cards.  It was usually a quick card I had to whip up for a birthday.
Chimp is stamped and embossed onto watercolor paper and colored with Twinklin' H2Os.
Base: PTI Poppy
Blue DP: Joann's
Red DP and Lt. Blue cardstock: my stash
Buttons: my stash
Twine: Divine Twine Cherry
Rhinestones: Queen & Co. Sunflower Yellow
Sentiment Stamp: SU Felicidades Siempre
In the next pic, you can see that I added glaze on the cherry and the sprinkles.
Challenges I am linking up to:
High Hopes: One for the boys
Alphabet Challenge: M is for Men Only
Craft your Passion: Sweet Treats
TSC Challenge: Anything Goes
The Corrosive Challenge: Birthdays

Cheeky Monkey

Hey there!  Glad to "see" you.  Thank you for stopping by to visit!  Please consider following my blog.  There are a number of ways you can follow on the left side.  I use Feedly.  I like the layout and user friendliness of it.  The only problem is that I don't know if a blogger knows I am following them through Feedly or if you are following me.
I have Googled the question but I haven't found anything yet.  Do you know?
Anyway, onto my card.
I was trying something new.  I am not entirely sure if I truly like it.  I think it has interesting elements individually but I am not fully convinced yet.  :-)
In the picture above, I kept it dark so you can see the shadowing I did on the tree.  The tree is from an embossing folder called Leafy Tree from Darice.  I used chalk to bring out the details of the embossing.  Then I embossed Cheeky Sean from High Hopes (Dustin Pike) onto it and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.
In the pic below, I took it with flash so you can see the embossing and the glaze I used on the teeth.  I tried to match the stamp with the branch of the tree.  I did ok on that part.
 Other card details:
Base: PTI Pinefeather
Other paper: SU Chocolate Chip
Feliz Cumpleanos Stamp: SU Felicidades Siempre

The bird I made from Mod Podge Melts.  It's pretty easy.  I painted it with acrylic paints.  While it was just melted, I added a generic brad to it.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:
High Hopes: Anything Goes
Word Art Wednesday: Anything Goes with a Sentiment
Through the Craftroom Door: Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes
The Crafter's Cafe: Anything Goes

Dustin Pike Girly Challenge

I really like Dustin Pike images.  I didn't discover him until his stamps came to High Hopes.  Of course, I was new to the stamping world and just into Stampin' Up, High Hopes and Wiff of Joy.  Since then there are so many new companies and so many wonderful stamps I have discovered.  Still, I enjoy Dustin Pike's whimsical images.  There is a challenge on his blog for a Girly Card.
As a mom of boys, I need images that work for all the men in my life and their friends.  My boys do not dig girly cards.  So when my youngest was invited to a birthday party for one of the girls in his grade, he did not want to give a girly card.  I made this one, but he said that that one can come from us.  I had made it because the invitation she sent was pink and black.  It was a Paris theme.  Very pretty.
He had another design in mind.
Yes.  It says "U  R  A  monster".  :-)  Yes.  He is my little turd.  The girl is a very sweet girl.  I adore her.  He has a like/hate relationship with her.  It is quite hilarious actually.  He allowed me to keep the pink/black theme but the image was not to be girly.  I think it is still girly.  Don't tell him I said that.
This is High Hopes Willy One Eye illustrated by Dustin Pike.   It is embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os.
I put some glaze on his eye, tongue and spits to make it stand out.
Other card details:  Letter Stamps - SU Best Friends Lowercase; Base - SU Pink Piroutte;  the Black paper is SU Basic Black emossed with Swiss Dots folder with the Cuttlebug; Buttons - PTI Sweet Blush.

Jedi Mind Trick

I make cards.  I love to make cards.  It is so relaxing to craft.  My problem is that I am never on time to send those things out.  Especially to my brother.  We have a long standing joke about it.
So sad....   :-)
This is a digi stamp from Stamp and Create's Pray for Luke line.  (If you haven't heard about this story please go to www.prayforluke.com.)  100% of proceeds go to Luke's family.  I bought the whole set - the Little Luke digi and the Dragon Collection by Dustin Pike.
This particular dragon is called Hero2 from the Dragon Collection.  To me he is, of course, a Jedi!  I printed him on watercolor paper, heated the image to set it and colored it with Twinkling H2Os.  Base: PTI Orange Zest.  Circle star DP: DCWV All Boy.  Orange DP:  Making Memories Just Chillin'.  Yellow matte: scraps.  Buttons: PTI New Leaf.  Twine: The Twinery Mandarin.
The sentiment I typed up on Word and printed.  You can't tell but the lightsaber has glossy effects on it to make it stand out.  I also sewed over the orange DP which qualifies this card for Stamp and Create's August Challenge: Stitch it up.  I am also entering the challenge on Craft Your Passion: Anything Goes.
The following card is almost the same layout and paper.  Each time I make a card, I have been making some extra ones for Operation Write Home.  I do not get to craft as much as I want but I have always wanted to make some cards for our brave men and women serving our country.

Gracias for hanging out with me!

Cherry Chip Chimp

I will probably have a few posts since I was able to complete a few challenges.  Aaahhh - I love summer.  I can craft.  It truly calms and relaxes me.  This first card is for the High Hopes Challenge 144:  Ribbons, Lace or Twine.
This stamp is High Hopes Cherry Chip Chimp.  Monkeys are my favorite animal.  My classroom was themed with monkeys.  I want one.  I will never get one - I just want one.  :-)  He is embossed and colored with Twinkling H2Os.  Base: SU Pink Piroutte.  Black is from SU and it was embossed with Swiss Dots embossing folder and the Cuttlebug.  The pink ribbon is from my stash.  Pearls: Joanns.  Crochet Flower: I did it!  Spacer: Stamp and Create.  Brad: Taylored Expressions.
I added glaze to the cherry and the sprinkles.
Gracias for hanging out with me!!

Bedtime Bear

I really need to learn how to use my camera. I have a Canon Rebel XSi. I am not a photographer. I usually use the manual settings. I take some really decent outdoor pics but I need to learn how to take some really good indoor pics and use the SLR settings. However you call it... I don't know photography lingo. I am wanting to take a photography class this summer...research, research...
Anyway, onto the card...
I am entering this one into the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #102 and the High Hopes Challenge 65 - Orange Brown plus circle.

Okay - I just have to say that I really like the polka dot glitter DP from DCWV Animal Stack. I am not happy that there were only two sheets of it. This paper is awesome. I have to share a Sketch Pad that I made using Kristina Werner's tutorial another day.... yes, using the same polka dot DP. :-)
The card base is PTI Summer Sunrise. The blue (SU Bashful Blue) was embossed with my Cuttlebug. I turned the TE Sketch on its side so that it would work with the big image. The stamp is High Hopes Bedtime Bear embossed on Watercolor Paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os. The spacer and star charm are from Stamp and Create.

High Hopes Challenge #64

I can play on a High Hopes Challenge! The challenge is to add texture and make it touchy feely.

This is Willy One Eye. I made about 80 of this guy for my boys' Valentine cards. I made a few extra embossed on Whisper White so I can make random cards. This one is in an envelope and will be sent to my friend on Monday. I thought it would give her a smile. Willy is so cute!

I guess the texture here would be the embossing, the ribbon and the buttons. Plus I roughed up the edges of the image. Willy was colored with Twinkling H2Os. He is backed on SU Certainly Celery and the base is PTI Plum Pudding. The can't remember were the ribbon, buttons and DP are from. Just random items I've had for years and I am now actually using.

Thanks for looking!

Valentine Cards

I know that Valentine's Day is over...but seeeing as this is my first "picture" post - I am testing it out on some projects that I recently finished. This is Willie One Eye from High Hopes purchased from Stamp and Create. I made these as Valentine cards for my boys for their class and teachers. I love these new High Hopes stamps from Dustin. I have two boys so these "manly" stamps are right up my alley.

On the back I just printed "Happy Valentine's Day! From: (Insert Name)". I embossed Willie on SU Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery. The eye, tongue and spots were colored with Twinkling H2O's.
