B is for Bare Essentials

One of my goals this year is to complete all my Christmas cards early.  I want to play with every single challenge on the ABC Christmas Challenge blog.  I don't care if I win anything.  I just want to not be stressed at the end of the stinkin' year.  I will, of course, still have projects (ie for teachers and friends) but my cards WILL be done!!!!
I finished these cards three days ago but I, just now, am able to add them to my blog before the B is for Bare Essentials challenge is over.
Here it is:
This tree is not from a stamp.  It is actually a graphic from the DP from DCWV Christmas stack.  There are three Christmas trees on a page so I just cut one out, distressed it, and added some ink to make it look even more aged.  I added it to a PTI Pinefeather cardstock base.  I then, included a sentiment from SU More Merry Messages.  Super easy.
It still looked kind of plain to me.  And even though I'm supposed to keep it "Bare".  I thought it could use some bling.
These are some "orangey" looking gems I found at AC Moore.  I think it adds a nice touch.  Super easy and super quick.
I had a total of six trees so I was able to make six cards.  Awesome!

Wags 'n Whiskers Sketch Challenge

Wags 'n Whiskers has a new challenge!  It's a sketch.
I've come to really like sketches.  Especially when my mojo is not working.  Sketches provide a decent amount of inspiration to get your creative spices going.
Have you come across any sketches that you use over and over?  Do you like creating your own sketches?
Here is W&W's sketch challenge to follow:
Make sure you read the challenge rules that are posted at the
top of the Wags 'n Whiskers blog.
One lucky participant will win a free Wags ‘nWhiskers Rubber Stamp!
You don’t have to use a Wags ‘n Whiskers image on your card, but if you do, you will be entered into a 2nd drawing for a free Wags ‘n Whiskers Digi!
Now onto my cards using the fabulous W&W digi - Chillin' Out (also available as a rubber stamp) printed onto watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os:

I made two cards to use up the paper that I had.  These are Stampin Up DP called Gingham Garden.  They are very pretty.  All four DP papers are just two papers.  Stampin Up papers are double sided.  I like their papers a lot except when you have a favorite of one paper in the pack, you only get two sheets.  I wish they actually sold one sheet as an option.  Kind of like when you get the single sheets from Joann's or Michael's.
This first card's base is SU Daffodil Delight.
Flowers: Primas
Brads: my stash
The "sand" is Frantage.  I still have some practice using it, but it's pretty cool.
I made my own envelope because the card is 5 1/2 squared.  I can't find any envelopes to fit perfectly.  I cut the paper 9x9 and scored at an angle at 3 3/8.  It slides in perfectly.

The base of this card is PTI Hibiscus Burst.
I am linking to the following challenges:
4 Krafty Girls Challenges: Anything Goes
Aud Sentiments: Use any sentiment
Bearly Mine: Color Inspiration
One Crazy Stamper: Anything Goes

Here is my card:
Yes I am using Say a Prayer again.  And yes I still think she is adorable.
Isn't that design paper fabulous?  I really liked some of the page sets that Stampin Up released in their last catalog.  I received a 6x6 sheet from every set as a share.  I wish I had all the money and space in the world so I could buy all the goods, but I don't...so I can't.  Booooooooo!

My First Christmas Challenge - On Purpose!!!

Hey there, my dears!  How are you this fine day?
So Christmas 2013 is over.  I made some pretty cool Christmas cards and gifts - but being true to form - I waited until last minute to make my Christmas cards.  So I spent HOURS trying to finish so that I could mail them out BEFORE December 25.  They were mailed before the 25th but that didn't mean that people received them before the 25th.  :-)
So I vowed to keep up and make cards throughout the year so that I can be ready and relaxed next Christmas season.
I want to enter the ABC Christmas Challenge for every challenge.  That is my goal...not my resolution...my goal.  Of course my ADD will kick in - and I may forget but I am going to try my hardest! :-)
Their challenge this time is super easy - Anything Christmas Goes...so here I go:
Isn't this cute little guy just precious?  He is so stinkin' cute!  I adore him!!! This little reindeer is a free digi from Sliejke.  She called him Funny Rudolph.  She has so really awesome digis and they are ALL FREE!! Go check her out please!
I printed him out onto watercolor paper and colored it in with Twinkling H2Os.  He is soooo cute!
 Card Details:
Base - SU Riding Hood Red
DP - DCWV Christmas Cardstock Stack
Buttons - They are wooden buttons from SU called Designer Naturals that I bought over a year ago.
Twine - Divine Twine Red Solid
Sentiment Stamp - Studio G
The "snow" is something new that I just purchased last week from Stamp and Create.  It is the Liquid Applique.  That stuff is so cool!  It is so puffy and perfect and easy to use.  You just kind of dot it around.  It comes out like glue.  Then you heat set it and see it turn puffy.  I was impressed!

I am adding my cards to these other challenges:
ABC Christmas Challenge - A is for Anything Christmas Goes
Jingle Belles - Something Old, Something New - old: buttons; new: Liquid Applique
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge  - Winter Weather
Crafty Hazelnut's Extra Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes Christmas
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper - January Challenge Anything Goes

Stamp and Create - Winter Wonderland

Birthday Butterfly Card and Notebook

My friend's daughter had a birthday and my niece, Alana, was invited.  She wanted to make her a card and she wanted me to make a card and a gift as well.  She wanted to pick out the papers for it.  We started with the notebook - which is a simple composition book.
Alana insisted on picking out the paper.  We scrolled through her stash of scrapbook paper that I had given her.  She ended up picking the one above.  I apologize but I do not know what brand name the paper.
I covered the notebook and then we tried to figure out how we were going to decorated the front.  We decided on that fancy "L" you see on the front that I cut with my Silhouette.
We added some flowers and a butterfly made from Modge Podge Melts.  I hand-stitched the bookmark from some ribbon, a PTI button, and a small rubber band.
Next is the card:
This is Flutter Anya from The Greeting Farm.  She is stamped onto watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os.
 Other card details:
Card Base:  SU Elegant Eggplant
DP: I cannot remember the company.  I believe it might be My Mind's Eye.
Jewels: Queen & Co.
Ribbon:  I bought that awesome ribbon at a yard sale.  It's a super huge roll!
Birthday Wishes stamp: Studio G.
You can't really tell from the pics but I added Stickles to the wings.

Whose Kid is a Gamer?

Whose kid?  Raise your hands.  I see a few of you out there.  Yup yup yup.  I see so many of your guilty faces out there.  Don't worry.  My hand is up too.  Both my boys are, as well as my niece who is currently staying with us.  My youngest and my niece are Minecraft geeks.  My oldest is currently playing Skyrim.
If they could, they would play all day, every day.  Because they are on Christmas break, they are allowed to play on the weekdays.  During the school week they are not allowed to play Monday through Thursday.  I don't want them worried about not doing quality homework so that they can rush and play a video game.  I need them to concentrate on what is important.
My oldest had his 15th birthday.  Time flew by so fast.  One minute he was this cute, chunky baby - and the next, he is a head taller than me and growing out of his baby face.  Not fair. :-(
Here is the card I made him for his birthday:
This super cute guy is Boy Gamer by Kenny K for Whimsy Stamps.  He is so excited!  He totally reminds me of my boys when they play.
Card Details:
Boy Gamer - from Stamp and Create embossed onto Watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os.
Base - The Kenny K rubber stamps are pretty big. So my card is actually 5 1/2" by 5 1/2" cut from SU Pacific Point
DP - Joann's (Love that paper.  It has all the controllers from they new game consoles and the classic ones like the old Atari joystick and the Gameboys.)
Twine: The Twinery Denim wrapped around SU Whisper White
Stars:  These are kind of like sequin stars.  They came in a pack of all different colors from Joann's.

I am linking to the following challenges:
Kenny K Krafty Krew (Must use Kenny K stamp) - Anything Goes
Here Comes the Boys - Anything Goes for the Boys
Ribbon Carousel (must use anything from a spool) - Anything Goes - used Twine

Minions Glasses SVG

Have you seen my Minions favors?
It's been pretty awesome because some of you out there in the digital world strolling through Pinterest have pinned my post about it a few times.  Thank you!  I'm thankful that you like them.
Now that I am getting used to posting files on blogspot, I figured out how to add the SVG to my blog.
I only have the svg for the glasses (single and double eyes), the white part and the pupil.  The black strip was just a skinny piece of black cardstock about 1/2 thick and measured to go around the box.  That also goes for the yellow cardstock.  I measured the cardstock and cut to fit.
Anyway, you can download the glasses svg here.
I hope it works and I hope you enjoy!
Just remember: This is a free file for your personal use - NOT for sale.  If you share this with others please direct them or link back to my blog.  I appreciate it greatly!

Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge: Christmas

Holidays are here!  Isn't it obvious????
I love the message of Christmas.  I love knowing that the kids know that baby Jesus came to us and how God had always has a plan.
I don't like the absolute commercialism of it all.
I do like that my boys and my niece get it.  Their Christmas list is not long.  (Well, my second son's kind of is but he was being funny with all the Minecraft stuff.)  I love using the technique from Emily and her FREE file for the kids' Christmas wish list.  They get it.  It's cool.
I don't like that Thanksgiving break was so late this year.  It threw off my time schedule.
The break was pretty awesome though.

I am sure a lot of you all have a love/not like relationship with the holidays as well.
To get into the Christmas spirit - Wags 'n Whiskers is having a Christmas challenge!.
Make sure you read the challenge rules that are posted at the
top of the Wags 'n Whiskers blog.
One lucky participant will win a free Wags ‘n Whiskers Rubber Stamp!

You don’t have to use a Wags ‘n Whiskers image on your card, but if you do, you will be entered into a 2nd drawing for a free Wags ‘n Whiskers Digi!
Here is my card:
To be honest, I like simpler cards for Christmas.  Something I can replicate easily, which usually means no coloring of a stamp.  I have done some Christmas cards that I  have colored but it's usually just one or two cards that I make like that.  I really liked how this turned out though, so I am making a few of them.
I am liking the look of the Spritz.  Its kind of funny because I know that I am late the party on that product.  I didn't want to buy any of it because I didn't think I would use it much.  Of course when something is on sale...that's a different story.  :-)
This is Say a Prayer.  She was embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os.  I added Stickles to her wings.  I cut her out and added her to a piece of SU Pink Pirouette with Smooch Spritz in Cherry Ice.
Other card details:
Base: SU Pink Piroutte
DP: Old retired SU paper called Christmas Cocoa
Ribbon: SU Pink Pirouette tied into that pretty bow with the Bow Easy
Sentiment: SU More Merry Messages
Bling: SU

Bubble Kid - Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge: Cards for Kids

Don't you wish you had more time to craft?
Well, I actually had some time this weekend and then I got sucked into a book.  Didn't touch my laptop for a whole day because I wanted to finish my book.
Of course, I had laundry to do...but I wanted to finish reading my book! :-)
Wags 'n Whiskers has a new challenge: Cards for Kids!
Go make a card for any kid and link up to the W&W challenge.

Here is my card:
This card works for kids.  This particular card is for my friend.  She is a big kid.  Does that count?
This cutesy stamp is a digi called Bubble Fun.  You can also buy her as a rubber stamp.  She is printed onto watercolor paper and colored with Twinkling H2Os.  She is matted on SU Certainly Celery.  Right behind that matte is a piece of SU Bashful Blue that I spritzed with Pink Sprinkles Smooch Spritz.  I really like the "spritzed" look.  I also like saying "spritz".  Say it with me: Spritz.
On the pic below, you can see where I added some glaze to make the bubbles shiny and bubbly.
Other card details:
DP: DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies
Charm from Stamp and Create
Twine: The Twinery Solid Peapod and Shore
